This series of works was created from photographs of the River Irfon at Pwll Bo in the Abergwesyn Valley, Mid Wales. A series of pools and small falls carves and shapes the bedrock. Overhung by alders, birches and hazels.
By shifts of contrast and tone I worked with the images until something emerged that would evoke the landscape detail without literal documentation. Some of the results resemble Chinese pen and ink, others remind me of etchings or 19th c. book illustrations. There are extreme enlargements of original images here, that in themselves create a visual texture that can be interesting.
