The House of Trees

Images accompanying text.

"The House of Trees" is a poem in thirteen parts that I have been recently turning into a small book with photographic images facing text pages. It focuses on the landscapes of the Isle of Skye, Scotland and explores the meaning of belonging, freedom and independence using imagery from folklore and the mythic past.
I have manipulated the pictures so as to emphasise an abstracted atmosphere of place, with particular reference to the styles of woodcut and etching, which, on my visit to Skye last year, were impressively represented in the local galleries around the island.
